In “Basket Cases,” a riff on the popular Food Network television show “Chopped,” community managers learned about the “mystery ingredients” that fill a manager’s day with disputes.
Based on actual disputes, Lerch Early community association attorney Ruth Katz and Vicki Eaton and Aimee Winegar of Community Association Services encouraged audience members to judge for themselves the most appropriate and legal resolutions for disputes related to ADA and FHA compliance, secondhand smoke, water damage and repair, parking, pets, and more. The session included information on the types of solutions possible through mediation rather than litigation and suggestions for how to avoid conflict in the first place.
